I have always enjoyed writing, from school to brushes with journalism to maintaining journals to letter writing (remember letter writing?) to well-intentioned-but-ultimately-abandoned blogs. I was spurred on late in 2017 by the purchase of an RV travel trailer. I felt that alot was going on both in my mind in considering the purchase and the physical realm of dealing with large truck with hitch connected to large travel trailer. It felt good to mix pictures with each blog entry, and even better to carve-out my little piece of the web to memorialize this quest.
But then I got a message from a friend saying that he’d like to read more…. And it dawned on me that I was really only writing when I was on the RV journey itself (which makes sense cause it’s kind of difficult to write glowingly about an RV parked in a lot not moving). So I made the move to initiate this blog to broaden the overall scope of what I’d like to write about. Along with my travels, I want to reflect upon art, books, movies, music and any other thing that happens to strike me in the course of everyday life. I find during the long driving periods of driving the RV that my mind drifts to many things, so now the world at large is open game for Cultivating the Journey Ahead.
Something that I still like to clarify when I read something, be it on the Internet or printed work, is context: who is the writer and what led them to the particular subject that s/he is writing about. So in that spirit I will let you know that I’m 60, male, live just north of Philadelphia, have 2 kids in their mid 20s out in the world making their way and hope to resemble what Walt Whitman exclaimed: I am multitudes. I guess you can be the judge of that if you read this blog, and I hope that comments, interactions and proclamations from you become part of this site.
So thank you for joining me, and I hope that you have a blog that I can partake of as well.
