After being on the road across the East Coast over the past few

months in my Crossroads Z-1 I realized that it was just a bit too small for longer term trips that I have planned across the country. So I started the quest to find a class A motorhome in the 30 foot range with slide outs, a 7 foot high ceiling and the features of a motorhome (onboard generator, automatic leveling system) that streamline the set-up part of RV life.
I had never know about Marketplace on Facebook until a friend of mine recently found a great old guitar on it. So I added it to craigslist, RV Trader and a couple of RV dealer sites and found a 2014 Coachmen Pursuit there earlier this week for $70,000. I had done a walk through of the 2018 model at a dealer and it was on my hit list as a motorhome that would provide me with the room to be a bit more comfortable on my journeys to come. I messaged the owner and she replied back with her husband’s number to call. I set it aside as I didn’t have time to see it until the weekend.
Two days I checked the ad again and the price had been lowered to $45,000! I called, scheduled a visit and spent the afternoon with the owner going over the Coachmen. It has 13,000 miles, has been meticulously maintained, he is selling due to health issues. But it was pinned back on the driveway, and I wanted a test drive. He apologized, and said that I could return the next day and he’d have it ready to go. Despite the 105 mile distance, I did the back to back trips because I really liked the motorhome and the seller (a retired machinist who had made some interesting modifications to enhance storage). When I got there he mentioned that many people had called, some even making offers to buy sight unseen.
I drove it in the neighborhood and then turned it over to him for a 30 minute highway trip. The visibility from the cockpit of the road is expansive and I knew that this was the motor home for me. We came to terms and I now am setting up all the financial, insurance and registration items to take delivery later this month. It feels great to have found the Coachmen and a bit sad to be selling my Crossroads travel trailer. But such is the RV journey I guess!
