I thought of this today as I sat drinking a cup of coffee looking out at the Chesapeke Bay the day after launching my first RV trip of the year. Of course the mid-70s weather of yesterday is gone, replaced by mid-50s overcast with threat of rain, but no matter: it isn’t freezing like my last trips out in December so I’ll take it.
The quote was something I learned at work and in effect is it’s a good thing to, before determining what you want to attain or accomplish, evaluate how much time, effort, sweat, toil, expense and cost it will take to get there. That is certainly my feeling today as I get reacquainted with my RV. Apart from the purchase and storage events that I’ve outlined in past posts, getting the ball moving in terms of planning the itinerary, making the reservations, packing up all the things I need while on the road, hitching the Z-1 up and rolling down the highway taking up lots of space on the road – all of this to arrive and then deal with backing the thing up to its rightful place on the park space, the balancing act of leveling and carefully bringing my mobile living space back to life with propane, electricity, water and open windows.
So is the result worth the effort? At this point I’d say so, as I’m happy to be outside enjoying nature’s art in this beautiful place. In 3 days I pull up stakes and move to my next camp in North Carolina. I know that it will be much easier than my maiden voyage yesterday, and will proceed with the effort and care needed to get a great and memorable result.
